The Weight Games!

This weekend we took a trip to Naukuchiya Tal and Bhimtal (with Husband's cousins), which meant that there was a lot of pictures and posting on the internet.
Younger Sis pinged me as soon as the pictures went up to tell me that it seems that I have shed some weight. While that pleased me to bits, I also realised that whole of last week I was hardly eating any crabs (Navratras and all) and that till about mid week I had no maid and I was doing a little bit extra house work.
Of cousrse the last two weeks the media has been going gaga about the whooping 108 kgs lost by the Ambani Scion in the last 18 months or so. While what he did is super inspiring especially (if the reports are to be believed) he has lost all that weight by controlling his diet and exercing. It is NO mean feat to lose so much of weight.
And while I give him all the credit that is due, I can't stop but criticise. Not the fact that he lost all the weight but the fact that he had all the time in the world to just do that. Lose weight.

The reports say that he exercised for 6 hours a day. Half of that much time is spent by me on the road every single day to travel back and forth to work. If I have 6 hours to exercise, I would probably become non-existent. Exercising in your personal gym, and having a cook dedicated to make the "diet" food prescribed by the dietician who must have charged a bomb will obviously yeild you results. But to do that while you have a full time job, where you have to travel for 3 hours a day, and also have a marriage and a house to look after, now that would be a mean feat.

It is not that I have not done this, I did manage to lose a lot of weight around the time I was getting married. I did spinning and power yoga for 6 days a week early in the morning. But then I did not have to worry about anything else. And my office was hardly 30 odd mins away and early nights by no measure meant not spending time with your beau (because the beau was not even in Delhi).

You may think that this is a puff piece about the reasons why I cannot lose any weight, and I will not argue about it. But this is the real deal. I am barely awake when I realise that I have to leave for work and after I am back, I just do not have any energy to change into work out clothes and go for a walk. Even if we say age is nothing but a number, the body does play catch up. The only time I have is in the early morning between 6-7.30 a.m. and that is VERY early. Because I love to sleep and would like to have at least 7-8 hours of solid sleep would mean that I need to be out maximum by 11 p.m.

Now working with the start time and the end time, if I have to lose some weight, this is how my day would look like:

6 am- Wake up
6.15-6.30 till 7.30 - Get ready and exercise
7.45 till 8.15- Get ready
8.30- Leave for work
Be in office till 7-7.15 p.m. (depending upon work, but mostly I get off by then)
8.45-9 p.m. - Reach home.
9.15-9.45 - Have dinner.

And then have about an hour with the Husband before I hit the bed at 11 p.m.
This looks good. A very long day indeed but getting about 2 hours in the morning to myself may be just the recipe for success in this long drawn battle with weightloss?

How exactly will this pan out? I have no idea. I have actually put aside an hour with the Husband without accounting for his time. This would also effectively mean that I get no time to read a book or watch a TV series (this may be a possibility, if the Husband is watching it with me and that makes it "our" time. But I doubt!)

So, how about I start this routine. I have heard that one requires 21 days for a routine to stick on, and revisit this after say about a month. And since this is public knowledge, I encourage you all to ask me about this too :)
Let the Weight Games Begin!

Throw Back Thursday (#TBT)

For some very weird reason, Thursday's have been christened as #TBT .. meaning throw back Thursday.. meaning it is the day on which you browse through memories and then put a post about, how time has flown!

I do not need a particular day to become nostalgic about the time gone by. I on the contrary, hardly seem to be wanting to go back into the time gone by.. mostly the good times.

In all those good times and fond memories, I think the best times were spent writing blog posts, and then having discussions on those blog posts. I had started writing in 2005 to impress the husband (then the boyfriend). I could not ( or so I believed ) write. I could not articulate my words to forth the feelings. I am not a very good writer and I am grammatically wrong so many times; and I make numerous errors (spellings etc) but this space has become akin to my sacred space of being me. In 2007, when I grudgingly moved from Yahoo (I think) to Blogger, I was totally terrified. This was a much bigger platform, and I used to write to impress.
But, then, something just kept me pushing. Then slowly, I don't know when and I absolutely don't know how, comments started trickling in and as an unsaid rule of the blog world, I started visiting other blogs, and the THE BEST THING HAPPENED!!
I made friends through the blog-o-sphere!
I was a part of the lives of people, who were experiencing things similar- dissimilar- something .. they were experiencing true raw human emotions and they were writing about it, and making me a part of it.

But then somewhere along the lines, sabbaticals, bad elements and the usual busy life styles just put a stop to the whole thing. I was writing sporadically, reading rarely, and not commenting at all. But somehow through the on and off relationship with the blog, I also found a dear friend in Kashvi, who, has been my friend. We haven't talked in a while.. but I know that she loves me and her comment about me being back said it all.
And then, there is Uncle Jack, with his life experiences, who keeps in touch by phone :) He even made it to my marriage and did a whole post on it!
There is Su and Vagabound, who are on FB and I keep getting their life updates from there, but, I found them here.
And there is Bikram, who is still quite regular on my blog!!

But today, what made my day was RoopScoop! [I can't still get over that Pari is 4 years old!!] Roop and I have never exchanged e-mails, and all I did was follow her blog - Regularly. I love her writing (I especially loved a piece that she had written about how she went into labour pains and the events thereafter!) . She has come back after a huge sabbatical, and she leaves a usual message about how she has started afresh at a new page, and I go there and put a comment welcoming her back.. and her reply left a lump in my throat. She wrote that she left that message of moving her blog keeping me in mind.. and that.. just made my day.

It took me back in time. Took me back 8 years and 600 posts back, reminding me that all those memories that I have made.. have not gone in waste.. and that there are truly such amazing people still here.. to hold on to!
Thank you..

And Roop.. WELCOME BACK!!!

Lessons in Self Doubt

When you are unwell and in bed the whole day, the most productive thing that you can do is either sleep or watch TV.
The curse of our generation is that we also have facebook/ twitter/ youtube and access to unlimited sources of entertainment. And, therefore, I ended up watching an ENTIRE season of a show called "The Newsroom". And well, when you watch these shows, they affect you in a way that.. okay maybe not you but they definitely have some sort of an effect on me.
I pine to be able to be the hero in my own story. A success story.
A story where you just hit the right notes at the right time. Meet a right person, say the right things and then land up in a place that actually reveals to you, your own true character and helps you create a path that you may not have chosen for yourself, but your destiny did help you find it.

Reality on the other hand is a different deal altogether. There is nothing like a dream job. Each one has some flaws in it. There are jobs that question your moral character, then there are jobs that question your financial stability and then there are jobs that question your familial stability. Hell, I am almost 29 and I do NOT have a job, that satisfy my moral compass, nor is it satisfying my financial compass, and while these two are unsatisfactory in nature, by  the laws of whatever the fuck it is that you want to call it; I am simply not heading a happy household either.

I am easy to push around, hell, yeah, my maid pushes me around like hell! I get lectured by her as to why I should and should not pay my other maid. There, all the respect is out of the window. I also get pushed around a lot by others. I get angry at things that I feel are wrong, or simple things like, why should I keep taking the first steps towards the relationship maintenance amongst relatives.. the only answer I get is, that someone has to.
There are things that I am getting to know now, there are truths.. okay more like family stories that I feel I should not have been told. Things are changing after marriage, and I am unable to grasp at things. I am ill equipped to make informed decisions or any other decisions for that matter, and all that I end up doing is putting up a thing before the review committee .. my Husband mostly.

I don't know, from where do people find their own depths, to questions their decisions and to evaluate their consequences and above all to take that first step to change it all. Hell, I don't even know where my life is heading. If at all it is heading somewhere, and I am feeling stuck. There is no new adventure that awaits me each morning .. yeah unless you count catching a bus at 7.30 am 6 days a week or the local train for that matter. I don't feel motivated to wake up next day, all charged up to go do a days worth of work and at the end of the day feel satisfied.

I don't feel that confidence and that strength to take on to my own little world, forget the world at large. I don't know, where to start from. From where to grasp those threads.
I am earnestly looking, for that one opportunity, that will change my life. A positive event, that gives me a chance at my little life, with my Husband.

X is for X-Mas

The greatest  thing about being in India is that we get holidays for all the festivals possible , whilst there are certain festivals that are celebrated all over the country with a fervour, there are some which are confined to a certain state or a region.

X Mas, is one of the festivals that celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm all over India. It is the Winter Holiday season, and while thanks to the MNC culture it means that offices have very little to no work, the schools have an off, and Santa Claus comes calling to each one of the houses irrespective of the caste culture creed or beliefs.

There is no difference in India, in between the celebrations of Diwali & X Mas.
We just wish, that the rest of the western world would also appreciate the beauty of celebrating a festival that is not your own, but is adopted because of the many many people of that culture becoming a part of that country.

Sorry - Not Closing Shop as yet..

And no, the last post was not a publicity stunt. (As a matter of fact, the "publicity", was the reason that I was thinking and rethinking about opening my thoughts here.. on a "Public Forum").

Am I scared..
Well, it is just that, the kind of emotions and thoughts that I portray here are absolutely raw.. (at times, I don't even spell check or grammar check the posts .. make that most of the time). I do not intent to hurt anyone but, there is always the sword of "what if.." hanging on the head.
But, I am not scared of people judging me by what I write.
People have misjudged me even when I am in front of them, and I am no one to influence anyone what they think of me. I am me. And, blogging is a way to preserve myself from being eroded.

I started blogging...
because at that time I was trying to impress my bf (then, hubby now), and eventually, I guess, I did take over him. I did guest blogs for him too at one point of time, and even though he is an author here, he prefers to put a guest post here and there...
And because he saw my enthusiasm towards blogging, he finally gifted me this url. Probably one of the most thoughtful things that anyone has ever done. Can't just abruptly abandon my gift.. can I? especially since I am the kind who preserves even the dinner bill stubs and wine corks if its a special occasion.

Like I have already stated, that there is no intent to offend anyone, and if someone feels bad or hurt, well, then sorry I guess!

Why do I Love You?

There are a lot of reasons that I know, I love the boyfriend.

But here is a little passage out of a post titled "Reasons Why I cannot Love You" from Thought Catalog, and it says so much about why I would never be able to love someone other than him!

"You’re wonderful for thinking I’m wonderful, but I can’t love you because you don’t love me for my flaws—you love me in spite of them. You don’t see me, you don’t even want to see me, for what I am—the ugly, pungent parts of my guts. You can’t and don’t want to tear these parts out of me while I scream. I can’t love you because you won’t defy me, because you won’t fight me when I’m wrong. I can’t love you because you don’t stand eye to eye with me and challenge me, demand of me, to be a better person."

Also, my blog now has 50 followers!
The 50th Follower being- Ms. Raam Pyaari.. who happens to be a novelist, too! *I have some super famous people following my blog it seems*- So please help me welcoming this young lady and making her feel at home, here on Timeless!

Off Marriages and Weddings

Yesterday, this friend of mine, more like my contemporary in the profession called me. He usually calls me when he is passing by my house, or maybe when he gets off from work early, or he has some work with me. So, he called me from this random number yesterday and the conversation that followed was this:

Me- 'Hello?'
Prats- 'Hi, Sakshi, Prats here!'
Me- 'Oye, Hi! Kiase yaad kiya?'
Prats- 'Ummm.. are you busy? Can we talk'
Me- 'Yeah....is it something important?'
Prats-  'Yeah'
*For some weird reason the first thought that pops in my mind is what I say; which is*
Me- 'Shhadi waadi ho rahi hai kya?*With an intent to pull his leg*'
Prats- 'Yeah'
Me- 'WTF'
(The rest was me mostly abusing him while he explained that why about a month back he and his girlfriend were super busy making their careers and all of a sudden he is getting married on 1st of March)
Yes, I shouted that it was child marriage.. but well, who cares!

With me feeling so, helpless about the fact that now even HE is getting married, boyfriend pings me on WhatsApps, and getting all emotional *which by the way is super cute* tells me, how happy he is for Dip and Sanchs.
*Dip is boyfriend's one of the best buddy from college, whose wedding he is attending in West Bengal*
And to add to the concoction of more of such news; Boyfriend informs me that another friend of his, is getting married in November.

Yes, after all this, the longing in me to get married increased. I just could not help wonder, that, this is like the nth wedding of a contemporary that I am being told about.. and as far as mine is concerned, I have no idea when will my big day be.
But don't be mistaken, I have of course imagined my perfect wedding. But, the truth is that there is nothing like a perfect or a dream wedding. The reality is the marriage after the dream of the wedding gets over. And knowing boyfriend and me, we will end up tearing each other off , from the word 'Go' of the wedding preparations. I know exactly what I want at my wedding. But then, the wedding is going to be ours, so me wanting something or the other, will be secondary.
But, then, I have also found a solution to the problem.. or so I am hoping to explain myself, who has imagined her fancy wedding.

I am trying very hard to coach myself that it is the 'Marriage' that is more important than the 'Wedding'! And I have thought, that, I will have all the functions- You see;
The 'Engagement/ Sagan' Ceremony;
then there are the 'Bachelor & Bachelorette ' parties;
the 'Mehndi & the Sangeet' *This is MY favourite out of all the wedding functions; it has to happen!!!*
the 'Haldi/Sainth' *For the unintiated; the bride is blessed by all the married, she is given the set of Red Bangles by her maternal uncle called 'Chura' and all her friends tie her the 'Kaliras'; and then the women put haldi on the bride so that she glows in the evening. This is one of the most Beautiful moment before marriage, the sudden realization by everyone that the little girl is not little anymore, invariably makes every sad and happy at the same time. I have seen most of the brides breaking down and crying at this time! And being the eldest from my maternal side and having three maternal uncles; who adore me and all; and then there is this small issue of me wanting to flaunt my 'Chura' (Yes, I know exactly the kinds I want!)*;
And then instead of the whole wedding ceremony, I would like to get the Registrar at home and do a civil marriage. *In the original plan; I had wanted to walk under the whole red chunni that my brothers would hold and the flower aisle which will lead to the mandap, the pandit chanting the matras and the 'Kanyadaan'; the thing that I know my father wants to do, the 'Pheras' and the sindoor and the magalsutra. I wanted the whole 'Joota' churaana thingy, with the jija saali negotiating the amount...*
Finally the Receptions *Two because, there would be one Punjabi style Reception & the other Bengali Style Reception; One in Delhi and the other one in Mumbai/ Calcutta or may be both the places!*

I think, I have lost it. Totally!
I can't plan my wedding, especially when the number of people involved in getting married are two. I know that I am assuming a lot of things here, especially the fact that Shayon is not going to object on this 'Wedding Plan'. I am going to be the first sister/ daughter in my family, whenever I get married *Unless younger sister decides to get married at 18!* and he is the only son of his parents and the youngest otherwise in the family, and the favourite. I am sure that his family would want a lot to do with this. I know so will mine. I have my Bua who says that she wants to host a function for me; and I have my Tyaji for whom it will be like marrying off her own daughter... there are my maternal uncles and mostly their wifes who are gearing up to play their roles. There are my parents, who probably planned the 'Kanyadaan' the moment they knew I was a girl.

And then there is me; I have grown up watching weddings, and each wedding in the family *Mostly my Dad's younger cousins; owing to the fact that I have a huge extended family and we are close to each other* was a project, a big one; from the right clothes to the right look, everything. Yes, I love weddings. I love to be an integral part of this special occasion for the two people who are starting this new journey together, and I feel, that if I do something that makes it memorable for them, I will be blessed. After all, even if it is the marriage that counts, there is no harm in making the wedding special. And unless you are Priyanka Chopra of 7 Khoon Maaf; you get married just once..  I don't know, how is it going to be for me though. Because, maybe by the end of the struggle of getting my parents to agree for me getting married to the boyfriend ends, I will be so exhausted that, I will want nothing, but just the marriage.

I know no one, who will be eager to make my journey through the aisle to my special someone, Special.

Love is in the Air!

Pardon me and my mushiness, but February makes me go all crazy in love. Apart from the fact that it is the Valentine month, and the weather is good, it does happen to be the month of my 'Love Anniversary', which I made pretty obvious in the last post!
But, I am not going to start gushing over my lovely boyfriend in this post...this one is more nostalgic in nature!!!

February, apart from being the month of 'Love', during the school days was mostly the dreaded month, being the shortest, it was the month before the exams began in March.
So, in between the exams, or preparing for the exams, I used to always wonder and wonder more, about when am I ever going to get a valentine's day to celebrate?
You see, the logic was simple, I was not the pretty babe or the brat who had boyfriends following her all through school. As a matter of fact I was the Geek.

But, love and the day of love meant way too much to me. The very first physical card that I had sent Shayon after we had started dating, was the one that I had brought when I was in class 9th!!!
Yes, I was and still am smitten by the idea of love, and thanks to Yash Raj Films, Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and above all Dil Toh Pagal Hai, that every year after I saw this movie; I have been dressings up in pink, and dress up nicely, only to sit at home and study. And think about how, one day, I will go for a Valentine's Day!
Till that time, I consoled myself by buying lovey dovey cards and little paraphernalia to stay in the spirit of love!

Yes, it is a different thing to be in love, to experience love...
But it is totally different to be in love with the idea of being in Love!

When the time is 'Right'

This post is coming from my seniors' laptop in office, wherein in exchange for me using the laptop for work, I have given him the possession of my Tata Photon Plus, and since I use the net during the day and he after the office hours, we share the bill too.
Though  have absolutely no idea, why did I tell you about this!

I have always been afraid of change. Even though, in the 'Thought of Day' section of the assembly in school, the thought "Change is the only Constant" was repeated over a million times, but I still refused to accept it. The only reason why every year I was happy in getting promoted from one class to the other was maybe- Maybe- because my parents used be relieved and of course, my friends and classmates used to be there too! So basically the change used to be in the Classroom, seniority and books (which used to get harder by the passage of each year).
And in Class 9th, when the classes were reshuffled I had teething troubles adjusting with my own batch mates and in 11th, when the disastrous decision of changing the school happened, well, I sort of became a disaster myself!

I don't when did it really happen, but all of a sudden, wanting a change in my life to live it on my own terms has become the order of the day. Like right now, today,  would love to change a zillion things about me, these changes I would love to incorporate and grow as a person.
The first thing that I want to change is my job and my city. As cliched as it may sound, but, I feel despite me trying to push things at home and trying to tell them that I am a big girl, there is only as much as I can push. After that- it just comes down to my grandmother and my parents getting super furious at me!
And in a bid to do just that- I have exhausted all my options. I have been begging people to source out a job for me.
The best part being- That all those people have been sweet enough to do just that. They have pushed as much as they could and now there is nothing more that can be done. When they call me up to tell me that they have tried and forwarded the mail etc, all I tell em is that, now we all have done our bits, tried so hard and now when the time is 'Right', things will automatically fall into place for me.

This sounds so romantic, so practical and positive and pragmatic, that when the time is right, things will fall into place. And my only question to myself over and over again is- When will my right time come? When will things start falling into place.
I am thinking positive, I am trying to be happy about my life.. but that does not seem to help me evade the doubts about where my life is heading. About how am I ever going to incorporate all of my dreams and weave them into reality.
I also know, that so many of you will say, that there is never a right time, you have to make things happen, shake the tree if you want the apple. But, when the five years worth of hard work of being a excellent student in academics and co-curricular did not and me in the kind of life that I wanted, I have become scared of even wondering about the dreams that lie within.

Hard work pays, and  I am just waiting for my payment to come. Irony is, that unlike the payment recovery of the phone and the net bills, there are no calls that I can make to recover my payment.
So here I am, trying my best to make the time 'Right' for me!!!

Where there is a Will..

There are no property disputes! *Yeah that was my attempt at bad humour!*

I am not going to give any legal gyaan.. but talk about the, THE most important event that made India shine, the Commonwealth Games 2010!!!!!
Yeah, we pulled it off, and in what grandeur and style. I must say that, it was a success story truly written by the Volunteers, the athletes and the Police...
When I saw the Opening Ceremony on my Television I was mesmerised I was watching it with my mouth hanging open all the time. And all through out the Ceremony  kept thinking, "Jab agaaz itna dilkash hai toh anjaam kiasa hoga?"
I went for the Cultural events that were being organized all over the city, and I was taken aback.. *I was of course expecting superb performance by all the Artistes, but it was the audience that left me in amazement* because, last I remember, the Delhi wallas, did not really had the taste or the patience to sit in plays, in dance recitals, unless they had someone of their own performing.
But, all the places were jam packed. That was the enthu that the people of Delhi had!

I also had gone for one of the Athletic event at the JLN Stadium, and I was lucky enough to be there on the day when the Discuss Players (Women) won all three medals for India. The crowd went mad, everyone sang along the National Anthem.. it was one of the kind moment to experience in your life time to see the Tri-colour waving three times over. And after that, the celebration music was 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' and OMG we sang like, we are the next Indian Idols!
And then there was the Closing Ceremony- And, I dunno how my mother managed it, but she got a couple of passes and I saw it live at the Stadium.. and I have never hooted so loud in my life! Of course the Closing was not as big as the Opening, but it was wonderful, and the last half an hour when all the Singers came and made Delhi go mad was total Paisa Wasool!

And the end of the two weeks, I got thinking, that there was not a single day when I got stuck in bad traffic, or for that matter of there was anything out of the ordinary that we do not see in Delhi. As a matter of fact, I found that the Delhi drivers were actually following the lane restrictions and there was lane driving happening. The crowd which always gathered for some event or the other, was never badly handled, the people were actually talking politely.. and there was a certain calm in the city. A sense safety that surrounded the who atmosphere.
But then, as soon as the games were bid bye, Delhi was back at being the brat that it is. I mean, why can't we the people of Delhi, be the way we were all through the games? Why can't the Police do its job the way it had done all these days. These are just the MOST little of things that we have to do, like, using the public transport, being polite, respecting the Rules of the Road, driving properly and being polite to each other. And, no one can stop Delhi from being a world class city.

I give the entire credit of the Success of the CWG 2010, to all of us, who made sure that the Games make us Shine, and the values of Atithi Devo Bhava are followed to the fullest!
The moral of the Story is that 'Where there is a Will, there is a Way', now that we know the way, and the result of following that way, we have to find that will in us!

PS: Chandni gets the credit for this post, I was not gonna brag about the success of the games, but after reading her, I could not resist!

PPS: Before I forget- Prosperity, Love, Health to all from Maa Durga! and Shri Ram! Happy Durga Pujo & Happy Dusshera to all of You!
*********************************************************
In the other news, me and my current partner in Dance Class have been wowed too many times for our connection etc! I am all dancie dancie about it! :)

White Collar

I think I am totally in love. Head over heels in love.
*Of course, Shayon yes, but, we are not talking about him here*
Now, why I am saying that I am totally in love is, because, I normally wont talk about movies or soaps that come on televisions. So much so, I have stopped writing any reviews about any movie, book etc. mainly because, I feel that everyone has their own perception... so why waste my time.

Anyway, back to my newest love- Neal Caffery in White Collar. I mean, this guy is total eye candy, and I can watch him for hours without blinking my eyes. *yes I sound like a crazy teenager, but WTF* and on top of being the good looking guy he is, he is also intelligent and super cool.

Ohkay, this well, just, blabbering but then.. that is what you do right when you are in love. ;P

Isn't he total eye candy!!!!

PS: I did that Gender Stereotype tag, you can check it out here.

The Courtroom Drama

I planned my whole career, as in, during my studies, I planned, I applied, and I worked hard to get into some of the best places to work as an intern. Now that my studies are over for the time being, and that I have no work, I had decided that I would join my father for the time being.. you know learning about the courtroom and how it functions and what not. But my father decided that since he wont be able to teach me much *ghar ki murgi dal barabar* he made me join this Supreme Court advocate, who is a wonderful lady and a self proclaimed feminist.
And so I went to the Supreme court of India today. *For the uninitiated Supreme Court of India is the highest judicial authority in our country, and only qualified Advocates, really senior advocates are allowed to appear in front of the judges** And, its security worse than that of the Parliament*
And, here are my observations, not in any order, just my observations:

a) No, lawyer, howsoever senior or junior will be spared by the judge, if the judge doesn't like you, well, he doesn't and get the hell out of there.

b) All the lawyers in the supreme court fumble * poor guys, the judges treat em like reprimanded kids*

c) Its draining to just stand. Stand. Stand, in front of the court room waiting for your turn to come.

d) There is nothing like a trainee advocate. So, if you are stuck like me, i.e. I have given my exams, and awaiting not only my results but also the bar exam to get my license to practice in the court, I get the 'pass' yeah a 'pass' for only one court, out of the many that my senior lawyer has to visit. *what did I tell you about the security*

e) So, when your senior advocate tells your father, there is going to be no consideration that she is your daughter, it simply mean- "I am off the hook, and I can be rude too"

f) The reputation of the Supreme court advocate is directly proportionate to the number of Junior Advocates, Interns, and court clerks following him.

g) There are so many southy's out there, that you have to really open your mind and listen carefully, so if you hear 'sheep' it actually means 'ship'.

h) Ever heard of the phrase ' New York Minute' well, when you have to appear before a judge in the supreme court, its even shorter.

i) Did I not tell you about the tight security in the premises, no bags either if you are not a lawyer. So, if you have to go inside the court room for a matter, please put your purse & phone outside, and, no, the court is not responsible for any theft. But, thank God, its a court.

j) Yay, one good thing, the canteen there makes good edible food. It tastes nice, and is cheap too. But, the sitting is so freaking small. So, At lunch time, you see so many black coats eating while you are standing with your plate.
My boss, takes her lunch at the Ladies Bar-room *No IT DOES NOT SERVE LIQUOR*

k) ON RECORD- I am a very hard working girl. But, I totally hate it when there is no work at all, like today, all I was doing was standing in the gallery looking left and then looking right, people bumping into me, people bumping into each other, and I was just standing *there is no adequate seating in the gallery, and you can't sit, even if there is an empty seat and your senior advocate, it could even be a xyz is standing, as a mark of respect* doing nothing. I was updating twitter, and getting roasted in my black coat.

l) I am sure you all know about Hogwards School in Harry Potter, and seen their uniform a.k.a their Robes, right, well, licensed advocates also have uniforms, a.k.a robes, which they wear in a very odd manner, instead of being properly placed its in a state off your shoulders... i.e its in a half way stage of wearing/ taking it off, that you have to guess.

m) NEVER wear heels, if you plan to be a litigating lawyer. I am having a bad leg and back ache.

n) The Supreme Court after vacations looks like a school re-opening after vacations, the lawyers actually ask ' How was your vacation' 'Where did you go' questions to each other.. and its like a mela, no, more like the school assembly, where you meet juniors and seniors and then when the classes  court calls your case you go in like a shareef kid.

o) Finally, if you wanna know how many shades are there in black & white, you can do your thesis here. The only color other than that was grey * yeah, just my luck*

Dad told my mom, that it is gonna be another school to learn the trick of the trade, but even though I love my trade, I can't seem to learn to love litigation and my new learning space. Ironically, whenever I used pass The Supreme Court, I always wanted to explore it... but somehow, I don't get the crazy jitters, I get when I go to the High Court, maybe because HC is home.
One thing that I have learnt today is, that, I am not meant for litigation, I gave this a chance today so that I do not become bias to me only wanting to be in Non- litigation (all lawyer work minus the courtroom) but, No ways...
Jobs Anyone?

When you have kids, make sure that the age difference between the two is not 7 years

Advice given by my father, when my younger sister & I were grilling him about his proposing mum.

Hi, In a hurry...

There are at least two unfinished posts that are sitting in my drafts. I mean, I am so totally out of time these days, that sometimes, I wonder, if I am even managing my time right. Or rather is time managing me right.

I have been keeping hell busy. No, I am not exaggerating. I am busy. And, I have become a pro at juggling so many things together, that, I should maybe go get myself a job in a circus. *at least I 'll get paid for it ...hmmm*

With the exams, and the entrances and the application form for the masters taking up the normal chunk of time, there are loads of last days and farewells also happening. Yeah, I had my last day at college on Saturday, and I din even know that it was officially my last day. It is not a surprise that none of the batch mates knew that either, but what mattered that day was, that, it was the last day of presentation competition. It was the last time that I stood on that podium and spoke. And spoke well. And, later the Chairman of  our institute took the dias, and spoke a few words, He thanked me for all the efforts that I had put in from the first presentation that I gave five years back, and the last I gave today. He said that it was me who had started this trend of power point presentations and of setting a standard that each of the other participant strove hard to achieve, and that he was very happy that his children (students) have come such a long way, thanks to me.
Man, I was humbled at his words... and it was in front of all the faculty of the college... and quite a few children.. I was touched, and that moment was the best in my entire college life.

So, college is over. Only Exams left.

Adding to the list of lasts, is that, it is going to be my last Social Dancing Class this Sunday. And, well, so that group of friends want that we meet up this Saturday, which we are.. to have a blast otherwise.

Oh, I worked for a couple of months at this place who act as recruiting/ consultants for law firms.. so, I went to pick up my check, and they offered to help me get a job... *yay to that* and add to that a research that I  have to do for them...

And, then there are my tuitions, where the kid refuses to listen to his parents and wastes my time. I am on, a strict time schedule * when I took the tuitions up, din realise I will get so tied up later* and he throws tantrum at such ease that, I lost my temper at him the other day and scolded him. And he tells me, " Aapko padhana hi toh padhaao, warna jaao" and there is nothing more to say.

My uncle, my sister plus her kids decided to land up in this already neck deep busy week, with my internals and farewells happening.. and I actually manage a up and down same day return trip to Amritsar. Wow, that was fun. My uncle wanted to go and have a chat with God, I had been wanting to go and chat him up myself... for quite sometime, thus couldn't let that pass... it was fun, and totally calming.. even if our feet burned thanks to the heat. We had mad rickshaw rides, and ate at an obscure Dhaba that has been operating since 1916, and slept like mad, on our way back.
This happened yesterday, and my head is still spinning... from all the travel and heat.

And then there is my regular dance class, that is happening. Totally blah, R it seems is hitting on a friend of mine, who is 5 years elder to him. Blah.

Shayon has been a total sweetheart of late. I have been getting flowers and books, and loads of love showered on me... * and, I feel like a princess, even though I act, otherwise*...

I Love you all for bearing this life update... I am not on twitter you see...

The Ugly Duckling

I think Google is GOD. Atleast for the people who say that internet is their religion. I use google atleast two times everyday, even if it is just for you know something as random as getting my self updated on the news that is happening around me.

The thing that is MOST amazing is that, whatever the occassion be, Google has just the right way to tell you about it. And, today thanks to their Homepage image, I got to know, that it is the 205th Birth Anniversary of Hans Christain Anderson...
And, I was instantantly transferred back into my child hood and into those fairy tales that always told about the damsel in distress, and the Prince Charming that would always come to her rescue.
Disney I feel has done a great job in animating and immortalizing so many of his characters, be it the Little Match Girl or Ariel- The Little Mermaid... whose adventures have always fascinated me... even now they do.

But amongst all his fairy tales, the one that I relate to the most is The Ugly Duckling... you know, just the little thing about how you being beautiful inside makes you beautiful outside. I always felt like the ugly little girl, who is not tall, nor shapely... nor like a girl. Actually, there are about million things that are wrong in me as per my mother...but, then, today stumbling upon the author of  The Ugly Duckling... gave me some lil bit of happiness.. a sense of hope, and above all gave me a lil extra push on the feel good factor about myself...

I feel like that Ugly Duckling, who is going to be a Swan some day... Life will happen, Soon.

Love, Sex aur Dhoka

I have not yet had the chance to go see this movie. Anyone willing to take me out to watch a movie, this or any other are more than welcome. And, yeah so this post is not about the movie or the various controversies surrounding the movie.
It seems that our little blog-o-sphere is itself headed for quite a lot of heated discussion and opinions about, Love, sex aur Dhoka.
The string started at this post by Uncle J, which was later picked up by TBG, and since most of the comments on TBG's post turned steered the conversation around these three words, Shayon came up with something of his own, and then Uncle J came up with another post combining TBG's and Shayon's views and putting in his own thoughts into it. And, to add more heat to the fire, we have Suruchi giving us more insights and then Shayon with his questions...
And that leaves me so confused. I know, my dear reader, this is loads of hard work for you navigating soooo many links to try to make sense here. But trust me all of them are worth a read, they invoke such extreme reactions in your head that you can't even imagine.

Yeah, so, now that you all familiar with, the basis of all the Love, Sex aur Dhoka that we are discussing, I have a couple of things that just struck me as soon as I closed my eyes, and I woke up again to ponder over em, and then decided to make you a party to moi thoughts.

I have been crying hoarse saying that all I have seen are love marriages around me, and such that even after years and years of being married these couples a still so much in love that, I am normally embarrassed around them. But, then, I have also seen friends breaking up in the nascent stage of their relationships because of either partner falling in love all over again.
Here, lets just put the 'Love affairs' aside.
And think of Just marriage, and lets be demographic here, and only think in the Indian Society Scenario, where love marriages are still looked down upon.
I have a certain friend (oye, owe up to this statement) who says, 'Sakshi, this is India, here, one falls in love after marriage.'
This is true, most of the marriages are arranged by the elders of the families, and two completely unknown entities are put together to spend their entire lives together. Now, even if there is respect and understanding by the way of compromising and by the fact that they are in holy matrimony.
What is the guarantee of actually forming that emotional bond? Of falling in love. Of course, you do get habituated to that person, he being your life partner, you have sex, have children and  lead a normal life. But, how does that justify you being in love. And what happens, when you find that emotional connect with someone, say in office or that neighbour... then where do you go from there? You have a family, and responsibilities, and then, you start feeling suffocated in your marriage and then you end up living a life of compromise.. Or do you?
I know we can have a La KANK scenario here, but then again, KANK was completely based outta USA, how many of us know of 40 year olds with proper families walking out of their marriage because they have found someone with whom they can really connect.

I say that a relationship based on mutual trust, and understanding is great. But, I also believe, that love by way that special bond, where you know that he farts after dinner, or that she has a compulsive habit of digging her nose don't bother you, and you still sleep on the same bed minus the children between you. And that you can actually talk to each other, about your true feelings and not just about children, finances and parents. And, when the relationship is like this, you can't really go wrong.

Infidelity is a different ball game all together.
Even in relationships that are air tight, there are chances that one can go wrong. And we cannot really preach anyone or tell any one what to do in such a situation. I have always maintained my stance on a very simple fact, that, The best people to make a decision in a relationship about a relationship is no one but the two people involved in that relationship. It is completely their call. It is they who know what the other person went through, when he/she took that step, and what made him/her do that.

No one can really predict, where and how would you connect with another person. In the internet generation we have love stories coming out of twitter, my own was thanks to a social networking site.
Love is love.
It can happen to anyone, any where, and You can't control it. It controls you.

What are your dreams made of?

The shadows of dark slowly climb on,
the stars in the sky twinkle a haunting tone,
the moon is throwing a light,
that takes me to another world..

The world in another realm,
the world of improbable and
probable,
a parallel universe of Possibilities..

What are your dreams made of?
Of, scintillating destinations,
and fantasies woven out of this world,
of beauty that can't be captured either in words or pictures,

Of success that is beyond your imagination,
of love that is beyond the world that
we stay in,
of a life that is nothing but content..
of a happiness that is life,
and life that is happiness...

You are taken up there,
you are thrown back on the ground,
for every coin has its two sides..

What are your dreams made of?

Of sleepless nights,
and ghosts of past,
present and
the future...

Of the lost causes,
and your world falling in pieces,
of a life that is lived unfulfilled,
of destinies that are left,
behind in the memories of time.

of the if's and the but's
that could never be the surety..
of wishes,
that were just a part of a wishlist.

of broken hearts,
and shattered glass...
of love,
the labor of which was just lost.

of faces that smile,
and hearts that are full of spite,
of friendships that are nothing,
but vanity personified...

A blank piece of paper,
a fresh start...
is that what my dream is made of..
tell me thee...
What are your dreams made of?

Back flash...

Five years ago, at this very instant- I was sitting in Banglore. Watching the movie 'Black', at PVR in a mall called Forum. It was in Audi 4.
I remember all this because, it was this night five years ago that really laid  the foundation of a full fledged relationship that is going to complete FIVE YEARS in a week's time.
Also, I decided to mention the events of that night today, because, Shayon is in Banglore today and I am here in Delhi.

I don't know, if I want to bring back that night five years ago, because, it was truly a magical night- It rained that night in Banglore, and I was smiling and laughing through tears.
Also, it was the first time, that I had gone on the 7th Feb, and actually picked up roses on the occasion of Rose Day.

CUT to 2010-
I am not even sure that I will make it to the end of the day, I wonder, how am I going to get through the entire week, without missing Shayon like hell.
Toughest, Valentine's week ever, worse than those, when I had no boyfriend, I was in school and saw lovers hand in hand.
But, like, it is often said-
Distance makes the heart grow fonder...
I will believe that...and hope that, life takes a turn soon.

Happy International Flirting Week, People-
Wish you a Very Happy Rose Day...!!!

The mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers

This is for another friend, who gave such a beautiful insight by a post of his..!!! I wanted to reply to him there, but then, I thought, I should be sharing it with you all also...
It is so often in life that we forget the most important things... and we want the most trivial things in life. Its often that we misplace our priorities in life.
Here is a lil philosophy that my father shared with me, for all my lovely readers to ponder about..

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had
some items in front of him.

When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very
large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it
with golf balls .

He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and
poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly.

The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf
balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full.

They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it
into the jar.

Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full.

The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two Beers from under the
table and poured the entire contents into the jar
effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed..

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I
want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things---your family,
your children, your health, your friends and your
favorite passions---and if everything else was lost
and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your
job, your house and your car..

The sand is everything else---the small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.

The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff
you will never have room for the things that are
important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your
happiness.

Spend time with your children.

Spend time with your parents.

Visit with grandparents.

Take time to get medical checkups.

Take your spouse out to dinner.

Play another 18.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix
the disposal..

Take care of the golf balls first---the things that
really matter.

The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what
the Beer represented.

The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.'

The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your
life may seem, there's always room for a couple of
Beers with a friend. So go home and share a couple of beers with your loved ones today! :)

So what say??
Cheers!!!

Especially for Qi!!!

Hey Ki!!
Remember the post in which you talked about psuedo friends.. and how people can be judgemental... well- you know- most of the time I face that kind of problem too.
And trust me- I have no idea what to do about it.
I am just glad that I have found such great friends in Kashvi, D.O, Moo and all of the readers who have not been judgemental about me or about the openess or frankness of my blog.
And, I am slowly coming to realise that- I do not have to adjust to other people, I am me. And people ought to accept me the way I am. Well that doesn't mean, that I am not flexible... whatever- I hope you got what I am trying to say.
So, here are some lines from the new song- Chor Bazaari from Love Aaj Kal, that suits all of us the best-

Laj sharm ki choti moti jo thi dori
Woh bhi kat gai
Chauk chawbare gali molhalle
Khol ke main saare ghonghat gai

Tu na badli mein na badla
Dilli sari dekh badal gai

Ek minute mein duniya dari ki
saaari samaj nikal gai

Haan Rang biranga pani pe ke
Seedhi saadhi kudi begad gayi

Dekh ke mujhko hasta gaata
Sadh gai yeh duniya sadh gai
Not in any wrong sense ofcourse... just the way the world looks...!! :)

love you!!
